In the opening of our 2026–2031 mandate, we say: “From the beginning, this has been our call—to let our mission give us hope in an uncertain world.”
On Wednesday, July 8, we will kick off our new mandate with a celebration lunch and activities to help us each claim our part in owning and making this mandate successful. Connection, sustainability, and communication are at the heart of this new mandate, and each person is important in making the hopes of this mandate become a reality.
Though we haven’t launched our new mandate yet, we have jumped into the work of it this summer. June was busy with high school groups from all over the U.S. The Young Episcopalians in Service (YES) group from Colorado was here working on upgrades to our chapel to honor Sue Hudacek.
The St.Ignatius Immersion group from San Francisco was with us for two weeks, working on the farm, helping with projects around the community, and then supporting the L’Arche Western Regional Gathering where communities from Tacoma, Seattle, Portland and Spokane all gathered to celebrate each other, connect, and ground ourselves in the mission. Each of these groups came with energy — ready not only to help us out, but to connect and build relationships. It is safe to say that it was a mutually impactful time.
On July 18 from 9am-1pm at Clover Park High School, you have a great opportunity to join us in support of our mission and this new mandate! This run/walk/roll is one way we have dreamed up to invite new people into the mission of L’Arche. We will be there ready for fun, along with vendors, food trucks, a chance to win gift baskets, and more! If you’ve been looking for a way to introduce friends, family, or colleagues to L’Arche Tahoma Hope, this is a great opportunity! Participation is free, but it is a fundraiser, so if you’re able to purchase a t-shirt or make a donation, you will help us get to our $30,000 goal!
