Dear Friends,
This August L’Arche Tahoma Hope is celebrating 48 years! We have been alive for almost half a century! A lot has happened in the last 48 years but one thing has stayed true, our mission.

The mission of L’Arche is…
To make known the gifts of people with intellectual disabilities, revealed through mutually transforming relationships;
To foster an environment in community that responds to the changing needs of our members, while being faithful to the core values of our founding story;
To engage in our diverse cultures, working together toward a more human society.
As we reach our “mid-life crisis” we are weaving the connections back to our founding core values and practices. L’Arche is different because we engage our own humanity, we build places of belonging and we create mutual, transforming relationships across differences. This is at the core of who we are and how we live out our mission each day.
Even in everyday life there is something to be grateful for like Camp L’Arche or the students visiting from Germany and living in the Farmhouse.

In this month’s L’Arche Community Connections, you’ll find a Core Member Focus on Carie Halle who has lived at LTH since she was 15 years old, and an Assistant Focus on Peter Borne.

And be sure you save the date for our upcoming Harvest of Hope on Saturday, October 4! We are inviting our wider community to L’Arche Farm and Gardens for a fall celebration of community! You won’t want to miss this chance to enjoy the outdoors with your L’Arche Community.
For those of you who have been with us since the beginning, thank you. For those of you who are just joining us, welcome! For everyone who has come and gone through the ups and downs and left their mark on this community, whether you know it or not, we wouldn’t be here without you. You matter so much to us.
Happy 48th Birthday L’Arche Tahoma Hope!
Thank you for your existence and the impact you’ve had on all our lives.
In Gratitude,

Katie Miyakado
