What inspired you to say “yes” to the House Coordinator role?
When I got to L’Arche Tahoma Hope and this position was open I thought about all the possibilities and opportunities this could bring for the core members and myself. I was able to use my leadership skills to foster a team who advocates for each other and makes the change happen.
How have you grown since being in the role?
This role definitely has equal parts of challenges and meaningful moments that allow for so much growth. Since I have come here and been in this role it has opened my eyes to hardships of what it takes to be alive and well cared for in this county, community and in the homes daily and how it is so important to have someone in your corner. I have grown to be more selfless and to enjoy life more leisurely because our folks need a calm presence to be able to communicate and hear what they need. L’Arche always keeps us learning.
What inspires you to continue staying in the role?
Mutual relationships and THE CORE MEMBERS! If you have ever spent a nice one on one day with any of our folks you will see that they need what a lot of us need: companionship, love and care. I stay in this role to be able to be in their corner when it comes to any adversity that may come our way and to do it with love. A fighter, a friend and an Advocate in all things is why I stay. This role is a privilege and provides me with all my needs because I can fulfill all of theirs.

Sharilynn Heinzman, Hopespring

In 1983, Sharilynn was the first female core member to move into L’Arche Tahoma Hope and she’s been with us for 43 years! She is a great and loyal friend who remembers people well and will often tell you the names of those important to her.
She especially loves being with the people she loves. She has a great giggle, a charming smile, and a wonderful sense of humor. Sharilynn also adores old classic music like The Beatles and The Beach Boys. With her warm heart, sparkling personality, and steadfast presence, Sharilynn continues to make L’Arche Tahoma Hope feel like home for all of us.
Sharilynn recently celebrated her birthday by sharing a meal with friends at “the Garden” (Sharilynn’s abbreviated term for the Olive Garden).
