L’Arche has benefited greatly from our long partnership with the Occupational Therapy department at the University of Puget Sound. This past spring, we hosted two OT doctoral student interns who completed capstone projects at L’Arche.
Serena Kurosky
Serena Kurosky provided expertise in helping us think differently about how we work with core members on the Farm. She created templates for visuals and other types of prompts to promote greater task independence. Serena also trained staff members on the Farm as well as our Inclusion and Integration staff so they understand how to use these templates.
Hannah Yu
Hannah Yu led assistant formations and provided an extensive library to further our understanding and support for core member romantic relationships and sexuality as part of living a full human life.
Inga Rohde
In addition, we celebrated former staff member Inga Rohde’s successful completion of her doctoral work. Her efforts provide elementary teachers with a curriculum for teaching social and emotional development through gardening.
We are so grateful for the gifts these individuals shared with L’Arche and for their presence with us. Congratulations to all three newly-minted doctors of occupational therapy!
