Fall has turned to winter.
Darkness is draped around us.
Each day the darkness comes sooner.
After handing over great produce, the plants are pulled.
Our farm lies resting and waiting in hope for another season.
Advent is an invitation to slow and embrace the mystery of Christ’s coming into the world.
Christ’s coming happens in a variety of ways.
It’s a mysterious coming even though we are familiar with the story of Jesus’ birth a long time ago.
We know of a time when our world and our own lives will end and be handed back the Divine Creator.
But most importantly, Advent invites us to actively “give birth” to Christ through our daily actions.
We listen in silence, we ponder the events and we open ourselves to a newness that we most often don’t expect.
As the days grow darker, we light more candles in hope that we will be guided by the Sun of Justice.
We yearn for light and sight in giving birth to the mysterious wonderful gift of Christ within us.
What will that present be within us?
Will we share that gift within us?
Maranatha.
