Nancy has lived at Farmhouse for all of her 30 years in L’Arche. David Rothrock met her at Lakeland Village when she was still a teenager, and he was immediately taken in by Nancy’s infectious smile and sense of humor. She arrived on Christmas Eve in 1986.
Nancy says one of the blessings of living in L’Arche is that it is mostly fun. She is grateful that she has a chosen mom (Dr. Edwards) and Dad (Father John) who know her well and know her heart. They take care of her body, mind and soul.
Nancy enjoys being a teacher and relishes the opportunity to help new assistants learn sign language. She communicates almost exclusively through finger-spelling. Challenges in L’Arche include being rushed or hurried, and “sometimes the cooking is not always good. Mostly fine.”
Nancy loves coloring and making welcome signs. She appreciates a well-coordinated outfit and can usually be found with her nails painted in a complementary color. She LOVES Garth Brooks and country music. With support from her L’Arche friends, Nancy has even been to a Garth Brooks concert!
